Sommet Elevage 2014 – The Livestock leading european show

Leading European forum for livestock professionals, the SOMMET DE L’ELEVAGE in Clermont-Ferrand/Cournon is one of the largest international trade shows specialising in livestock production.

In 2014, it is estimated that more than 1,250 exhibitors and 82,500 professional visitors, including 3,300 from abroad, will be present at the exhibition. Located in the heart of the Massif Central, in the largest beef cattle breeding region in Europe, the SOMMET is a business forum primarily devoted to showing animals. In 2014, more than 2,000 animals of high genetic value will be present at the show (22 French and European cattle breeds, 26 sheep breeds, 16 horse breeds, etc.).

Vector of farm policy

Every year, the SOMMET DE L’ELEVAGE is openned by a high-ranking politician wanting to meet professionals of the farming sector. In 2013, it was the French president himself. Such is the influence of the SOMMET DE L’ELEVAGE, that during the show, agriculture-relevant announcements or new farm policies are made known.

Anaerobic digestion, solar panels, biogas… At a time when new energies are more than ever at the heart of society’s priorities, the SOMMET is increasing again the size of the exhibition area of Hall 6, the extra space will be for renewable and sustainable energy and the construction of eco-buildings. As such 1,600 m² (5,250 sq ft ) are reserved for exhibitors proposing ecological and economic solutions to farmers. This extra space represents a 30% increase to that in 2013
